PostCoder
Result
PostCoder is a little app I decided to have a go at writing to help me learn C# with Visual Studio 2008.
Admittedly it took me far longer than it should have, to write such a simple application, and it is by no means near finished, but if you find yourself having to look up New Zealand postcodes more than once a day, check it out, or at least have a look at the screencast below.
Usage:
PostCoder is a tiny, unobtrusive app that sits in your system tray. To lookup a postcode, it is as simple as clicking on the icon, which will bring up a small dialog to enter the address details. As you get to know the application a little better, you will be suprised at how little information you need to enter to get a postcode.
Almost instantly a balloon window will popup with the postcode. By default (I think) the postcode will get copied to your clipboard. You can also change this to copy the whole address label to your clipboard by right clicking on the icon in the system tray, and choosing the option you want from the Options flyout menu.

Known Issues:
I haven’t confirmed this, but I suspect you have to enter your username and password in Internet Explorer when connecting to the web, it won’t work. I have tested it with a WebMarshal proxy using NTLM authentication, and it works fine.
Download:
Download it here! and please let me know how you get on via a comment below or flick me an email from the contact page. Feel free to pass it onto anyone who may find it useful. It checks back to my server for updates when you open it, so when I update it you will be the first to know.
